Major site-preparation work — including moving millions of cubic yards of excavation in Alabama — proved our crews could take on the largest earthwork and industrial projects in the South and deliver them with urgency and precision.
From bridge replacements to river crossings, Wright Brothers built the connections that keep the Southeast moving — spanning rivers in Virginia and rebuilding critical bridges across the region.

Stephen Wright elected 2nd Vice President of ARTBA Contractors Division. Wright Brothers contracted for an 8.6 mile section of I-840, the largest monetary contract ever awarded by the Tennessee D.O.T.

Wright Brothers Construction awarded first of two US 23/I-26 Projects in Unicoi County, TN. This corridor was one of the largest public works projects in the United States at that time.
T C Stone Inc. chartered as an affiliate company with Wright Brothers Construction Co., Inc. performing custom crushing as well as drilling, blasting, excavating and hauling. T C Stone provides D.O.T. limerock aggregate for construction projects in several states and has operated quarries in Tennessee and Georgia.
Wright Brothers Construction Company awarded first project with FHWA Project 25-E9 in Cumberland Gap Historic Park.
Tom Whitsitt serves as Director of the Tennessee Road Builders Association
One of the largest new road construction projects in Tennessee since the Interstate Program, "Corridor J" is undertaken by Wright Brothers Construction and completed in 1993.

Tom Whitsitt, a licensed Professional Engineer who has been working in all phases of Civil, Structural, and Sanitary Engineering and Construction management since 1962, joins the company. Tom serves the company as Vice-President, Chief Engineer and Estimator and his strong innovative skills at problem solving, legal interpretation and construction management are invaluable.

Robert's son, Steve, emerges as new player in the company, serving as project manager on various sites and leads a growth that was to move the Wright Brothers into a firm position as one of the top players in the grading business in the Southeastern United States.
