Big moves are underway in Shelby County, Alabama! A brand-new crane has just arrived on our I-65 widening project between Calera and Alabaster, and our crane operator, Rene, couldn’t be more excited. This major ALDOT project will expand I-65 to six lanes—three in each direction—improving traffic flow and safety for thousands of daily drivers. Along with new lanes, the project includes replacing eight aging bridges, including those over the railroad and County Road 26, and upgrading key interchanges to better serve the region for years to come.
