Blue skies and warm temperatures greeted crews today on the bridge deck pour at Champion Drive (NC 215) at I-40 Exit 31 in Canton, NC.

This NCDOT project replaces the existing structure with a new bridge designed to improve safety and accommodate future I-40 expansion. Work at this stage focused on placing and finishing the concrete deck, a critical step in advancing the structure toward completion.

The project is part of North Carolina’s broader $1.36 billion program to repair and strengthen I-40 infrastructure following Hurricane Helene, with full completion targeted for 2028.
