Heroic Act by Cowboy and Patrick

Heroic Act by Cowboy and Patrick

September 16, 2025
What started as an ordinary afternoon in Covington, GA on the GDOT Brown Bridge Road project turned into an unforgettable moment of courage.
When a violent crash left three women trapped in a smoking vehicle, Superintendent Chance "Cowboy" Kelly and Project Manager Patrick Lynch didn’t think twice.
Patrick dashed for his work truck and grabbed a window-breaking tool. Handing it to Cowboy, he watched as Cowboy shattered the glass, tearing the window free with his bare hands—even cutting himself in the process. Together, they cut through the airbags and pulled the women to safety.
With the passengers safe, the crew cleared debris, restoring the roadway before first responders arrived.
Because of their quick thinking, bravery, and selfless action, both Cowboy Kelly and Patrick Lynch (seen here with Area Construction Manager Chris Brown) were awarded the Core Values Excellence Coin—a recognition reserved for those who live out our core values when it matters most.
Thank you, Cowboy and Patrick, for your incredible bravery!
