Project Manager Bryan Wade takes in the work at the Incinerator Rd at I-40 Exit 31 project site in Canton, NC. This NCDOT project replaces the existing bridge and delivers North Carolina’s first pre-cast culvert tunnel, a safer, forward-looking solution that also supports future I-40 expansion. In addition to the bridge, work includes building large-scale retaining walls and stabilizing the area.

The project is part of the broader $1.36 billion effort to repair and strengthen Helene-damaged I-40 infrastructure, with full completion targeted for 2028.
