A year ago, this area looked very, very different. When the sun rose over the hills, this community was unrecognizable, changed forever by the devastation of Hurricane Helene. The damage here was widespread and overwhelming, completely upending the lives of so many. Roads, infrastructure, and livelihoods were impacted in ways that don’t show up in a single photo.
In the months since, an extraordinary amount of work has gone into rebuilding what was lost and restoring access, safety, and stability. Progress has come through long days, difficult conditions, and a shared commitment to help this community move forward. For many of our North Carolina crews, this work was deeply personal. We are proud to stand with Chimney Rock and to help rebuild a place that so many of our team call home.
