Project Narrative
This downtown Chattanooga freeway project, owned by TDOT, runs 2.602 km from north of the Olgiati Bridge to Signal Mountain Boulevard along U.S. 27. Wright Brothers performed grading, drainage, and paving as a subcontractor under prime contractor Dement Construction Company. Major elements include 460,365 m³ of excavation; 213,300 m³ of borrow excavation (graded solid rock); 15 anchored soldier pile retaining walls with concrete facing totaling 18,150 m²; 15 MSE block retaining walls totaling 5,870 m²; 2,915 m of storm drainage from 375 mm to 1,650 mm; 7 overhead sign structures; ITS communications throughout the project; 5 concrete bulb-tee beam bridges; 1 curved steel girder bridge; and other miscellaneous associated work.
